A few weeks back, we went camping with some friends in Death Valley. None of us had been before and we were all struck by how insanely beautiful it was. Before the trip, I decided I wanted to try my hand at high dynamic range (HDR) photography because I knew that the landscape would be impressive and give me plenty of opportunity to practice. I rented a heavy-duty tripod and a polarizing filter and was not disappointed with the scenic beauty in every direction. Some of these shots were taken from Dante’s View at sunset looking down into Badwater Basin. The others were taken on hikes into Mosaic Canyon and to the Natural Bridge. I’m super excited with this first HDR experiment and can’t wait to give it another go on our upcoming trip to Pinnacles.
